*Release Blitz* The Vampire and the Case of the Cursed Canine

Title: The Vampire and the Case of the Cursed Canine

Author: Heather G. Harris & Jilleen Dolbeare

Genre: Urban Fantasy

Publication Date: June 27, 2024

Hosted by: Lady Amber’s PR

Blurb:

Spells, hexes and curses.

Curses are falling on this town like rain in London. Just when I think I’ve found a link between the hexed victims, someone else shows up jinxed too. It feels like the devil is playing darts with my paranormal town, and if the dart lands on you, you get whammied with a curse.

Frankly, I haven’t got a clue how to find the perpetrator. Realistically, it probably isn’t Beelzebub. My sole lead is pointing me at the traveling black market that has just landed in Portlock. That’s all fine and dandy — if I can find out where it is. Weirdly, no one is willing to talk to the cops about the highly-illegal-market. I’m persona non grata, which I’m kind of used to, being a slightly-less-than-undead vampire.

On top of everything, my overbearing British mother has come to visit me in Alaska. Stuck in my shoebox house together, we might actually have to deal with some of our issues. Ugh, what fresh circle of hell is this? Thank goodness I have Connor MacKenzie, vampire leader and sexy lumberjack, to run to when the going gets tough.

I’m juggling things — badly — when I discover my dog is cursed too. The question is, what would I do to save my hound? The answer: anything and everything. The world can burn for all I care, as long as I can save my pup.

Dive into this fast-paced urban fantasy series if you love mystery, humour, found family and a slow-burn romance.

Heather is an urban fantasy writer and mum. She was born and raised near Windsor, which gave her the misguided impression that she was close to royalty in some way. She is not, though she once got a letter from Queen Elizabeth's lady-in-waiting.

Heather went to university in Liverpool, where she took up skydiving and met her future husband. When she’s not running around after her children, she’s plotting her next book and daydreaming about vampires, dragons and kick-ass heroines.

Heather loves to travel and once spent a month in Thailand. Thai food remains a firm family favourite. It goes without saying that Heather is a book lover. She grew up reading the likes of Brian Jacques and Anne McCaffrey.

Jilleen Dolbeare is the author of the Splintered Magic Series—A PWF series about a woman finding her magic, and the Shadow Winged Chronicles, an urban fantasy series about a shape-shifting bush pilot in Alaska.

She loves riding horses, warm ocean beaches, and long walks in the mountains, none of which she can do in the Arctic, so she writes. Her activities are riding her four-wheeler on cold ocean beaches (often frozen or covered with ice), and long walks to and from work when it’s 40 below—in the dark. She does keep her stakes sharp for those vamps that show up during the 67 days of night.

Jilleen lives with her husband and two hungry cats in Barrow, Alaska where she also discovered her love and admiration of the Inupiaq people and their folklore.

*Book Tour & Giveaway* Salvation By Blood-GUEST POST

Skylar is gifted to be his human pet.

Demarkus, a vampire lord, must take her blood, her body, then her life.

But can he?

Salvation By Blood

Parts 1 & 2

by Marisette Burgess

Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Romance

Skylar by no means had the perfect life- but she was free. Until the night vampires broke into her apartment and snatched her. Now, she finds herself in a real life hell, the kind horror movies are made of. She’s gifted to a vampire lord to serve as his pet, but only for a week. Three certainties exist. He will take her blood, take her body, then take her life.

Demarkus Osei, Lord of his clan, is obliged to attend the 20th Vampiric Centennial Conclave. A task he loathes. For one week, he’s given a human to fulfill his duty to his family. But this year there is something different about his slave. Aside from the fact that he and every vampire at the Conclave find her blood mouthwatering, she’s unique. There’s an inescapable pull. He can’t quite put his finger on it, but the urge to protect her, to spare her from pain, is overwhelming. But he’s a vampire. His thirst and hunger must be sated.

As Skylar and Demarkus navigate through his basic vampiric cravings, they can’t ignore the cruel reality of their situation, their inner monsters, or the looming end of their time together. This once rational, put-together lord, now finds himself making rash illicit decisions, to spare her and himself from pain. Will he choose to follow what is demanded, resulting in her demise, or will he defy every vampiric decree?

Marisette Burgess’ new twist on vampiric folklore doesn’t disappoint as she seamlessly weaves a Beauty and the Beast trope into the rich tapestry of a vampire love story. Skylar and Demarkus’ slave/master relationship keeps the reader wanting more as she tries desperately to keep the vampire’s needs under control while he fights his urge to not fall in love.

GUEST POST

What do you do to unwind and relax?

- This, I write. For me, writing fantasy is like drinking a cup of wine after a long, hard day at

work. Whenever I’m stressed, anxious, or restless, writing seems to calm my resolve and puts

me back in a state of ease. I know, it’s weird that mentally existing for a while with made up

characters, who sometimes go through horrific unbelievable scenarios, in a made up world,

brings me back to a happy, relaxed reality, but it does. What’s even weirder is that I book hop.

Which means I play out a scene and dialogue in my head for one novel, like vampires, then

wrap up my thoughts on those characters and mentally hop into another story with an entirely

different world. Sometimes, I write out my ideas and thoughts before I go into another story,

but lots of times I simply think up of the next steps or future events that will happen to my

characters in multiple stories at a time before I write out the scenes. It’s like the worst and

best form of daydreaming. Someone once asked me how I keep them straight? It’s like

watching different TV series at the same time. These stories play out in my head like short

movie/tv clips. And, the best part is if something seems too convenient or easy for my

characters, I can easily think of a good way to stir things up and make them sweat a little. It’s

naughty fun having the ultimate say when messing with my characters.

Are your characters based on real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

- For this book, the characters came out of my imagination. I think of what I want them to look

like, then I try to find images online that are close to the idea I have for them and write out

detailed descriptions based on a hodgepodge of images and thoughts for each character. This

is for the mental image of what they look like only. Then I write out character traits and I

envision what they act like and say in different made up scenes that never make it into the

books. It’s like a video game where you change the skins and looks of the character until you

find the perfect mix that works for what you need it to. Even though I create character profiles

in my outline, their traits often change as they interact with other characters and the story

evolves.

I’m RJ—Robbie Joe, thanks to my mom’s creativity—and I’m a witch.

Well, kind of. I’m still in training.

Magic is like second nature to my sister, Aimee. She’s the golden child, excelling at every spell, acing every test, and just generally being perfect. Me? My magic’s about as predictable as a coin toss.

I never really cared much about it... until now.

Suddenly, our coven is under attack. Witches are losing their powers to an evil we believed to be just legend. Even Aimee falls victim, her magic drained. With so few of us left, it’s up to me and my lackluster powers to save our coven from total extinction.

No pressure, right?

As Aimee and I search for a way to restore the coven’s magic, shocking truths about my past and my true potential come to light. Maybe I’m not a mediocre witch after all. Maybe I’m something special, but the power within me is proving to be dangerous, reckless, and uncontrollable…just like me.

I need to get ahold of my newfound abilities to stop the looming threat to our kind. If I don’t, I won’t only lose everyone I care about, but I’ll lose myself as well.

Harper A. Brooks lives in a small town on the New Jersey shore. Even though classic authors have always filled her bookshelves, she finds her writing muse drawn to the dark, magical, and romantic. But when she isn't creating entire worlds with sexy shifters or legendary love stories, you can find her either with a good cup of coffee in hand or at home snuggling with her furry, four-legged son, Sammy.

She writes urban fantasy and paranormal romance.
