Dating the Intern
by Natalina Reis
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Chick-Lit

Who would have thought that pretending to be in love could feel so real?

Ivory Tower is the successful owner and CEO of an online dating service who prides herself in matching her clients with their true love. Everyone except herself. When a TV studio wants to spotlight her company live on air, Ivory runs into a problem; she can’t produce the boyfriend she needs so she doesn’t look like a fraud.

When Li Qiang, her ten-years younger and toe-curling handsome intern, offers to pose as her boyfriend, Ivory thinks her problem has been solved, but it’s going to take more than the perfect algorithm to get out of this situation. Li Qiang is too easy to love and too hard to forget, and the question remains; does he really love her or is he only playing his role?

Dating the Intern is an age-gap romantic comedy that will make you smile, break your heart, and then make you believe in love all over again.

Natalina wrote her first romance at the age of thirteen. Since then she has published eleven romances that defy the boundaries of her genre. She enjoys writing all kinds of rebels and outcasts into her stories and she always roots for the underdog.
Natalina doesn’t believe you can have too many books or too much coffee. Art and dance make her happy and she is pretty sure she could survive on lobster and bananas alone. When she is not writing or stressing over lesson plans, she shares her life with her husband and two adult sons.

GUEST POST

 Killing the Doldrums

By Natalina Reis

You could say that DATING THE INTERN was my escape from the pandemic. When COVID-19 hit the US, I was writing a paranormal romance, a fractured fairytale. Even though there were some light moments (I don’t seem to be able to write anything totally devoid of humor), the mood of the story was rather dark. One day I realized I was not enjoying writing it. In fact, every time I sat in front of the laptop to write a few more words I got stomach cramps and couldn’t come up with anything even remotely interesting to add to the story.

I wanted to write something funny, not necessarily fluffy but definitely sprinkled with a light mood. I had been thinking of writing a fake relationship romance so I began planning DATING THE INTERN—what goes for planning in my pantser world. When COVID-19 made its spectacular entrance in the United States I was in the very early stages of coming up with a plot. I knew who the characters were going to be, and I knew that Ivy was going to be the owner and CEO of an online dating agency (a friend and I had a blast researching online dating for the book since we both have been married for so long we had no idea, lol).

I am known write several books at the same time but I was really trying to be good and focus on just one. The plan was I was going to finish my fractured fairytale and then hit the ground running with the rom com. That’s when I got stuck. I blame the pandemic. Everything looked so doom and gloom around the world that writing something serious was sucking the life out of me. So I put the fairytale in the backburner and focused solely on the rom com. It was the best thing I could have done.

Writing DATING THE INTERN shook my muse awake and gave me what I needed the most then: a chance to swoon, cry, and laugh like a mad woman (well, just a teensy weensy crazy). It was my medicine against the doldrums of a year of fear and isolation.
