*Book Tour & Giveaway* Beware the Violet by Maria Vermisoglou

Beware the Violet
The Eulogimenoi Series Book 1
by Maria Vermisoglou
Genre: YA Fantasy

Discovering supernatural creatures are real is one thing but learning I have powers and learning to use them is quite a feat.

My name is Violet Webb. I live in a small town that nearly worships Halloween but I hate it. I can't wait until I graduate and get as far as I can from that silliness.

Everything changed when I followed the white rabbit. I ended up in a Realm full of vampires, fairies, witches and every creature possible.

Oh, Did I mention Jacques?
The hot shapeshifter with the French accent that makes me see rabbits everywhere?

Now what?

Some bloody lady of Fate gave me a prophecy to get home. The only problem is that I must defeat the darkness before it swallows both of our worlds.

Can I go through without making the ultimate sacrifice?

*Book Tour & Giveaway* Girl Gone Home by Kathleen O'Donnell

Girl Gone Home
Twisted Crime Book 3
by Kathleen O' Donnell
Genre: Psychological Thriller

The Best Book I've Read This Year! I just finished it and I loved it! It has more twists and turns than a roller coaster. This book would make an amazing movie, but the book will always be better. I can't wait to see what she writes next! – Rena, five-star review on Amazon.

From two-time Book of the Year finalist and Thriller of the Year Award winner Kathleen O’Donnell comes a gripping psychological thriller filled with quirky, unexpected twists.

A girl in serious trouble

Delilah Diamond had it all, the popular cooking show, a dream house, and a great romance with her producer, until the producer’s wife gets wind of it all. Delilah loses her show, her job, and her house. She’s forced to go back to her hometown where everyone has skeletons in their closet—or worse.

A home not like any other

She arrives just in time for the unfortunate death of her high school crush, but senses something's wrong with the story of his demise. Before she realizes it, she's knee-deep in a past that almost crushed her years before, and could very well crush her now, for good.

A mother who keeps sordid secrets

Local law enforcement is a homegrown drunk, and useless, so someone higher up the food chain sends a big city detective who starts sniffing around her classmate's suspicious death and her mother’s past. Delilah’s protective hackles are raised. She knows her mother has shameful secrets, but the more she learns, the more she realizes she doesn’t know the whole story.

A hometown that comes together, even in crime

In small towns, you protect your family and your neighbors come what may, but will Delilah be able to protect her mother without exposing her own sins? The ones she worked so hard to cover up? Will she be able to deter the detective away from the truth?

You can't go home again. Or can you? Should you? How safe is home when you know where the bodies are buried?

Girl Gone Home is ultimately a story about love, family, loyalty and circling the wagons no matter what terrible crime's been committed. It’s quirky, heartfelt, and reminiscent of Dolores Claiborne and the works of Kate Atkinson, Jane Hamilton, and Janet Evanovich.

Kathleen O’Donnell is a wife, mom, grandmother and a recovering blogger. She currently lives in Nevada with her husband. She is a two time Book of the Year finalist for her debut novel The Last Day for Rob Rhino. You can find short stories and blog posts on her website.

Fifteen-year-old Matt Mitchell was having the worst summer imaginable. Matt’s misery started when a drunk driver killed his mother. At the new high school, three bullies are determined to make Matt miserable. And to top it off, Matt learns that the recluse who lives in the 'haunted house" next door is none other than Old Lady Hawthorne, the town’s infamous witch and murderer. Matt’s terrible summer is turning into an awful autumn when something quite unexpected happens. Old Lady Hawthorne’s niece and her three children arrive, and Matt meets Gerallt.

A geek by day, Donald Firesmith works as a system and software engineer helping the US Government acquire large, complex software-intensive systems. In this guise, he has authored seven technical books, written numerous software- and system-related articles and papers, and spoken at more conferences than he can possibly remember. He's also proud to have been named a Distinguished Engineer by the Association of Computing Machinery, although his pride is tempered somewhat by his fear that the term "distinguished" makes him sound like a graybeard academic rather than an active engineer whose beard is still slightly more red than gray.

By night and on weekends, his alter ego writes modern paranormal fantasy, apocalyptic science fiction, action and adventure novels and relaxes by handcrafting magic wands from various magical woods and mystical gemstones. His first foray into fiction is the book Magical Wands: A Cornucopia of Wand Lore written under the pen name Wolfrick Ignatius Feuerschmied. He lives in Crafton, Pennsylvania with his wife Becky, and his son Dane, and varying numbers of dogs, cats, and birds.

*Book Tour & Giveaway* Gypsy Kisses & Voodoo Wishes by Denise N Tapscott-GUEST POST

Gypsy Kisses and Voodoo Wishes
by Denise N Tapscott
Genre: Southern Gothic Horror, Paranormal Romance

Can any good transpire when Romani magic collides with Voodoo Magic?  For Grandmother Zenobia, the answer is unclear.
The year is 1890 in Carrefour Parish, Louisiana.  A Voodoo high priestess with a mysterious past, Grandmother Zenobia conceals her magical powers from her grandson Will. She wants him to have a "normal" family life, including savory Southern dinners and festive church gatherings. When Will reveals that he's in love with a girl named Syeira, Grandmother is overjoyed. In her excitement over a future wedding, Grandmother fails to find out a crucial piece information.  Syeira is not a New Orleans local, she's from the Camlo family.
On the other side of the bayou, Queen Patia Camlo, is furious when her daughter reveals her relationship with Will, who is not Romani. To the Camlo tribe, The Traveler way is the only way.  Desperate to put an end to their romance, Patia casts a spell so effective that even the great Grandmother Zenobia can't fix the damage it creates.
Grandmother Zenobia must decide how much she's willing to sacrifice to retaliate against Patia, as well avenge her family, without losing her soul

Denise was born and raised in California. She left her heart in San Francisco, but somehow managed to leave her soul in New Orleans. When she's not creating and cultivating her characters, she enjoys dining on spicy tuna rolls, sharing a bottle of red wine with friends and watching the latest flick (especially scary films). From time to time this radiant left-handed pirate will even challenge others to a fencing match or two. But, watch out. This Gemini is determined to win!

Often referencing her favorite quotes, below is Denise's favorite motto by Hans Christian Andersen:

"Just living is not enough...one must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower."

GUEST POST
Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
The main characters are pretty much set in stone; the smaller ones definitely come to me as I write.  They all have very interesting story lines.
Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise?  Why?
I prefer to write in silence. It helps me to hear and understand my characters on a deeper level and see where I want the stories to go.  If there has to be noise, I prefer to listen to classical music, especially Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata.  Songs with lyrics distract me too much and my story lines get fuzzy.

Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?

I have several stories going at a time. Grandmother Zenobia has been around a long time and different parts of her past pop in to mind. There are characters in my upcoming novels that have awesome things going on and when inspiration hits I have to write their stories out too. Because the tales are so distinctive I don’t get confused when I write them. I just have to choose which one speaks to me the loudest to work on. LOL

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?

I research locations of where the stories would take place so I can see in my mind where my characters would live and breathe. I’ve been to New Orleans many times; I took a cooking class at the New Orleans School of Cooking to understand how Grandmother Zenobia made gumbo. It’s way more intricate and mindful than I expected. I’ve also done research on Voodoo and Hoodoo to understand what they are really about and how to be respectful of them and not butcher them the way Hollywood might. Just last month I had a nice lunch with a Hoodoo/Root worker in Atlanta.

Pen or type writer or computer?

I’d have to say both. Initially I wrote everything on paper, with a nice pen. I have countless journals and folders of handwritten notes. After a while I got frustrated with trying to translate everything I scribbled so lately my first choice is to sit in front of a computer. If I’m not near a computer? I definitely will find some paper and I always have a pen nearby.

Describe your writing style.

I believe I write in a visual style? I want to see what my characters see, and feel what they feel. I have a background in acting and I’ve found that if I can picture a certain character trait or location, they become real to me. I hope that the visual descriptions translate to my readers too, while still adding to the plot of the stories.
Do you believe in writer’s block?

Oh yes! There are times when life gets too noisy, too emotional, too chaotic or sometimes too dull. You’d think that my characters would bust at the seams to be heard and seen! Yet, when I score the time to sit in front of my computer, I’ve found myself staring at the screen waiting for the next twist and turn for the next story, and the curser just blinks at me. Taking a walk outside usually helps a bit, but not always. Sometimes I have to shut the computer down and read. I’m fortunate that I have a whole universe of characters and adventures to toy with so if one story won’t budge, I can edit another, or add to yet another one. Researching character traits also helps inspire me and can get me out of a rut. Otherwise, I have at least 4 books I’m currently reading to change my focus and shake off my writer’s block.
