At the local LGBTQ center where Alex regularly volunteers, he meets Dal Sayer, an officer of the Milwaukee PD. Because he’s been rejected one too many times, Alex doesn’t trust the huge cop and the interest he shows in him, but once Dal sets his mind on something, he goes all out. Pushing aside his preconceived notions, Alex opens up just a little and soon caves.

From their first date—while dealing with his father’s failing health and his parents’ demands for him to settle down and have children—Dal never takes his eyes off his goal of making Alex his. But proving to Alex he isn’t like all the men who couldn’t see him for who he truly was and only wanted to hide him away is harder than he thought.

Signs of Desire
Desires Entwined Book 4

Simon Tyler knows his job as a gay romance author makes his lack of faith in love more than a little ironic, but he’s tired of being used for his wallet. When a night out turns into a matchmaking scheme orchestrated by his best friends, Simon’s not thrilled, but since he’s not the target and he’s sworn off happily-ever-after anyway, he goes along with it... until he meets Adrian, the object of their efforts, and finds perhaps he hasn’t given up on love after all.

Professor Adrian Keys has tried to date Hearing men before, but being Deaf himself, he’s never had any success at making a connection. After his friends con him into going out and Adrian realizes it’s all an elaborate plan to set him up, he braces for yet another failure, only to discover there is a spark—except it’s not with the man his friends had in mind, but with Simon Tyler instead.

Not all their friends have found a way past their romantic failures, but Simon and Adrian might be on the path to happily-ever-after.

GUEST POST
Do you listen to music while you write? If yes, do you find what you listen to influences the story at all?
God yes! Without music I don’t think I could write. Pandora is my ever eager helper when writing. I have a Muse station and a 80/90’s alt rock station that I flip between while writing. I don’t know that it directly influences my writing, but silence stifles my ability to write, so in a way, yes.

Do you miss your characters when you come to the end of their story? Do you find ways to write sequels for them or do you become entranced with a new set?
Well, I’ve only completed my first so that’s a little hard to answer. I do love my guys and books 2 and 3 have them as characters, though not as the MC’s . But, the series is all connected as at least one of each pairing is friends of the whole, so I don’t have to give up the previous loves.
Now once I start a new series, that will change and I’m not sure what I’ll resort to, er, decide to do then.

Are you a part of a critique group? If so how helpful are they and would you recommend other authors to take part in critique groups?
I am part of one, but what I’ve found to be more helpful that a group is to have a dedicated beta group that is your own. The big groups are wonderful and work for many authors but if you are not a het author, it is very difficult to find a group that will work with you. Also, waiting on your chapters to be read/worked on can drive you nuts, lol, so having your own can lessen the stress. Plus, you know quickly how each person critiques, so you know who does what and if you need to add to your group and who to ask.
The biggest thing I would recommend to any author, no matter how new or seasoned, is to only listen to those you trust, and even then, only to a point. The story is yours, the characters and journey they are on should never be hijacked by what others feel they ought to be.
And yes, I do listen to mine. ? Even when I don’t wanna. LOL
