*Book Tour & Giveaway* Midpoint: A Memoir

Midpoint: A Memoir

by Patricia Angeles

Genre: Nonfiction Memoir

Midpoint: A Memoir is an immigrant woman’s story of perseverance and building a legacy future generations can be proud of.

Patricia Angeles is at the midpoint of the average human lifespan. Decades of experience, mistakes, love, and loss have led her to contemplate what anyone might when they’ve lived half their life. “What kind of legacy am I leaving behind? What do I want my friends and family to remember after I’m gone? What are the biggest life lessons I can impart while I’m still here?”

Through this collection of personal stories, Patricia attempts to assess her answers to these questions, and perhaps encourage others to do the same. Spanning from her childhood in Manila to her immigration and life in Los Angeles, these stories touch on her youth, her acclimation to American culture, her remarkable career in the world of banking, her thoughts on motherhood, the important people who made her who she is today, and major events that forever changed the trajectory of her life.

A raw, honest, poignant, and at times funny read, Patricia aims to inspire her readers to pursue happiness against all odds and to not settle for a life of mediocrity. Through the power of story, this book ultimately asks: What are we but the accumulation of our experiences?

Women of the Percivious Trilogy

By J.J. Cook

This season of strong female characters will be dedicated to the dynamic women found in the PERCIVIOUS trilogy. With the release of the trilogy’s conclusion, Percivious Escape, the full cast of characters is now complete. And the timing is perfect to introduce them all.

Of greatest significance is the contrast between the human female characters of Percivious Insomnia and the humanoid female characters found in Percivious Origins. The fascinating portrayal of the female descendants of primates held up against the female descendants of cetaceans is one of the most spectacular and unique facets of the trilogy. One that will leave readers pondering the material long after they have finished the books.

From Black Mirror to The Handmaid’s Tale, there’s no shortage of glorified dystopia in today’s entertainment. But what if instead of dwelling on our deepest fears, we were to shift our cultural lens to focus on the possibility of a more perfect world? How would a kinder, more intelligent evolution of humankind play out? What if altruism were to supersede narcissism and become the driving force of society? And who would take the lead if it were to be achieved?

Join us as we shift our lens to shine a light on some of the most unforgettable female characters found in plausible science fiction today.

What are your top 10 favorite books/authors?

TL Swan – Miles High Club, Our Way, Mr Masters, Marx Girl

Diana Gabaldon – Outlander Series

Deborah Harkness – The All Souls Trilogy

Jojo Moyes – Me Before You

What book do you think everyone should read?

Outlander – it will ALWAYS be my favourite.

How long have you been writing?

11months. Its all happened very fast!

Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?

I don’t plot at all. I literally start at chapter one and people come to me. There’s no telling who will pop up where in my books.

What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?

I research as I go. Especially for medical knowledge etc.

Do you see writing as a career?

Yes, I hope in years to come I will be able to call this a career. My focus now is to write and find my readers. Not everyone will love my books as they’re very real life.

Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?

I hardly read now, but its definitely contemporary romance. Though I dabble in dark romance and paranormal romance.

Tell us about a favorite character from a book.

It has to Jamie Fraser, the king of men

But Brad's willingness to walk the fine line between what Shelly's heart wants and what her head allows slowly wears down her resolve. What can we expect from you in the future?

In addition to A Home for Christmas, I have written two other sweet romances: When Cardinals Appear and Barefoot in Blue Heron.

When Cardinals Appear is very near to my heart because it deals with grief and loss. It’s about two former high school sweethearts, Lanie and Nate, who reconnect when Lanie comes home to settle her late mother’s estate. At first, they try to avoid each other, but it’s a small town and thus, they’re thrown together often. Each time they are, Lanie sees a cardinal. She soon learns the legend “when cardinals appear, angels are near,” but she dismisses it as a myth. However, when she discovers that Nate is hiding a secret from her about her mother, she starts to wonder if there’s a purpose to the cardinal’s visits. She confronts Nate and forces him to choose: break Lanie’s heart with the truth, or his by letting her go for good.

Cardinal was chosen to be part of the Romance Writers of America’s Romance Author Mentorship Program this summer, and I worked on editing it with author Virginia McCullough. I’m currently querying it and hope to find an agent soon!

Barefoot in Blue Heron is really three romances combined into one. It was inspired by Jane Austen’s Sense and Sensibility and is written in the vein of Love, Actually. It’s about three very different siblings who are called home to their small beachfront town to help save their family’s pub, but they can’t agree on the best course of action. Loyal Emily teams up with a hotel heiress, but there’s more to their relationship than business. Ambitious Peter wants to sell, but his attraction to an interested buyer clouds his judgment. And Cassie’s too caught up in her own love triangle between the local mayor and a high school crush to be of much help either way. But when Cassie suffers a life-threatening experience, the siblings must put aside their differences and work together before they lose the pub, their bond, and a chance at love.

Barefoot is still being edited, though I have stuck my toes into the querying pool with it. The responses I’ve received thus far have been promising, and I hope once Cardinal finds a home, Barefoot will soon after.

I’m currently working on the first book of a faery fantasy trilogy for National Novel Writing Month (better known as NaNoWriMo). Now that I’ve fulfilled my promise to my mom, I’m ready to tell the story of Astreilles, my main character, who has patiently waited her turn for almost two decades. I’m undecided on whether I’ll try to go the traditional route or self-publish the series under a pen name, but I expect it will be a while before the books are ready. Still, I’m excited to delve into this new genre, and I hope I can share my other two completed novels with the world soon!

Genre: Alternate Historical LGBTQ Romance

A heart-warming and entertaining poly romance story about marriage bonds, friendship, and the endless supply of love we all carry in our hearts.

According to the rumors, Ainsley is a prostitute. To escape the meddling ways of their families, Ainsley and his husband Graham move to a new town where they hope to find peace. Ainsley spends his days worrying if Graham's decision to marry him was the right one, and he is devoted to giving Graham the life he deserves.

Andrew Croften has never been one to settle down, despite how desperately he seeks companionship. His romantic life is a series of half-flung flings that earned him the title of 'home wrecker' and his professional life is haunted by his long-term bully. But when he visits his friends' party and meets the charming and adorable Ainsley, he devises a plan to steal him away from his husband.

Yet Croften finds himself drawing closer to Graham as well, especially as Graham's brother and Croften's bully are intent on causing chaos in their lives. Perhaps three heads (or rather hearts) are better than two
