The Man Before You
Grand Mesa Men Prequel
by Shalana Battles

Time may not actually heal all wounds, but love just might.

Eloise's husband was dead and she wished she were too. She quit going to work, refused to answer her phone or her front door, and shut out the people who cared about her. She felt imprisoned by her tainted memories, but couldn't escape her own home or recliner, because she had to focus on breathing.

Six days after she buried her husband, Jack pounded on Eloise's door. Jack, a man she hadn't seen or spoken to in over a decade. Jack, the only man including her husband, who Eloise felt truly knew her.
Jack's life hadn't been without its fair share of loss. Breaking contact after Eloise's marriage had seemed the best thing for them, but regret tortured Jack when Eloise swung open her door and he saw the shell of the woman he once loved.

Eloise pushed Jack away ten years ago and never expected him to come back into her life. She hated herself for wanting Jack to stay, but she couldn't help but remember the love they once shared and the life that they could've had—or the life they could have now.

The longer Jack stayed, the more he realized Eloise blamed herself for not being there when her husband died. Jack wanted a second chance, but Eloise didn't think she deserved one. Eloise wanted to find herself, but wasn't sure she could while dealing with grief, Jack's deployments, PTSD, and a universe that seemed determined to keep them apart.

Scarlett and the Big Bad
Fated Fairytales Book 1
by Sierra Brave
Genre: Paranormal Fantasy Romance

What if Red Riding Hood invited peril and the big, bad wolf was the only hero who could save her?

Promised power and position, Scarlett Capuche left her tiny village to join the prestigious Order of the Phoenix.

Monty Blackwolf never wanted a mate, especially not a human raised on a hidden farm for blood-ritual sacrifice. But his werewolf's heightened sense of smell drew him to Scarlett's sweet fragrance from miles away.

Duty- bound to protect her, he will break her of her religious devotion to the magical terrorist group responsible for the murders of his parents and older brother, even if he has to put her over his knee and turn her bottom as red as her hair.

She belongs to him now, and he will claim all of her despite his affliction with a unique, third shifter-form he doesn’t fully understand and isn’t able to control.

Will Monty save Scarlett, or will he prove more dangerous to her than anyone else?

Author's Note: If you're offended by steamy fairytale retellings with graphic language, explicit put-you-in-the-moment love scenes, elements of power exchange, and domestic discipline, you might want to look for a different book.

Sierra Brave is a multi-published author of heart-pounding, blush-inducing romance with put-you-in-the-moment love scenes. She enjoys writing about a variety of gorgeous alpha males who can't resist head-strong heroines. Curvy girls have a special place in her heart and often grace the pages of her books. Tales of shifters, cowboys, twisted fairy tales, space pirates, Amazon warriors, and vampires capture her imagination as do tempting spanking and ménage scenarios, but she also engages in more down-to-earth themes such as office romance. You'll find lots of unique characters and humor in all of her stories.

Yet day after day he slowly breaks down her walls, opening her up to the possibility that she might be strong enough to take a chance not only on him, but herself as well.

I began reading my mom’s Harlequin Presents in the fifth grade, and from the first story I knew I wanted to write romance novels. I like writing about the very ordinary girl thrust into extraordinary circumstances, so my heroines will probably never be lawyers, doctors or corporate highrollers.  I try to write characters who aren't cookie cutters and push myself to write complicated situations that I have no idea how to resolve, forcing me to think outside the box.
I love writing characters who are real, complex and full of flaws, heroes and heroines who find redemption through love.

GUEST POST

 Q&A with Beth D. Carter

  1. How long have you been an author?

Hi! Thanks so much for having me on today! I have been a storyteller all my life, starting out with epic adventures for my Barbie dolls. I wrote my first novel when I was around ten or eleven, handwritten in a spiral-bound notebook. I became published in 2009 and now, 12 years later I’ve about 80 or 90 published works (including short stories and anothologies).

  1. What is your favourite genre?

From a writing standpoint, Sci-fi or futuristic. Especially apocalyptic, like the world of Those Who Survived. The possibilities are endless story wise. From a reader, I would say anything and everything. Whatever catches my fancy.

  1. Name one thing readers would be surprised to know about you.

I used to be a surgical technician, which means I assisted in surgeries and handed the doctor the correct instruments to use. I’ve had my hands in places not many humans would want to touch, and seen some very gross stuff. The human body is an amazing machine.

  1. How did your muse come up with this story?

Well, although some might now want to read about an apocalypse based on a virus wiping out the human race, I came up with this idea long before there was a Covid-19 outbreak. When I was taking A&P (Anatomy and Physiology) in college, I thought blood typing was interesting since I have a rare blood type. I thought it would be an interesting type of story where a virus only targeted the enzyme on the positive blood cell. Since the world is eighty-five percent positive, a virus like that would be catastrophic.

5. Do you like to write your books in a continuing series?

No, but I seem to write a lot of series. They’re hard to write if you have to write in a linear fashion. In one of my Motorcycle Club series, I lost a few members because I had forgotten some of the background characters I had created in the first book. Oh well.

  1. What are your upcoming projects?

I was accepted into Evernight Publishing’s Reluctant Bride anthology. My story is titled “Heartless”, and I’m in some amazing company. It should be out later this year.

The Siren's Call
Pirates of the Withering Coast Part 1
by Alonna Williams
Genre: Lower YA Fantasy

Oh little one, the darkness is waiting, oh little one, run from it if you can; come little one, where the light can find you...”

This was a familiar shanty to Manchester born, Trevor Henderson; having grown up being mesmerized by stories of swashbuckling rogues, adventurous pirates and captivating aquatic creatures, he was no stranger to sea shanties. These tales instilled in him a longing for the sea.

Upon turning sixteen, he begins hearing whispers in the night, coaxing him to leave his posh life behind and follow his dreams; when Trevor finally takes the risk, he’s swept away on an adventure he never expected.

He soon learns the truth about his own identity and history, causing him to wonder if he should have set foot outside his comfort zone...

Alonna Williams is a children's book author and has been writing ever since she was a little girl. It started with a short story and soon progressed to novels. Alonna has worked on, and grew up with a Pirate series entitled, Pirates of the Withering Coast, her favorite series of all, as well as a mystery series, a Sci-Fi/Superhero series and more! When she's not writing you'll most likely find her dancing, whether it be, Tap, Ballet, Jazz or Lyrical, or watching a good classic movie or cozying up to a Disney film!

GUEST POST

CAN YOU TELL US A LITTLE ABOUT THE CHARACTERS?

To start, Trevor of course was far different in the first draft, he was originally from a poor family and was unseen by his town. He was generous and sweet and he had two sisters. But something told me to make him spoiled and arrogant, I kind of like those characters more because I feel like they have more to learn.

Then we have Arjan, the gentle giant of a Siren who we learn about in the first few chapters of the book. He will have a prequel coming out soon so you can learn even more about him. Arjan originally had a very tiny role in the story but as time went on, and I crafted his backstory, I fell in love with the character and I think most people will too!

Lastly, I’ll talk about Labyrinth, Labyrinth is a lot of fun to write! He’s very child-like and his innocence is refreshing compared to Trevor’s brash arrogance. His design was fun to imagine as well and I can’t wait to write more about him in the next few books.

TELL US ABOUT YOUR FAVORITE CHARACTER FROM A BOOK:

Okay, so, he doesn’t originate from a book but he’s in a few and it’s Luke Skywalker. I think he’s my favorite fictional character ever and I do aspire to write a character like him one day.

I think he’s one of the best examples of great development as he went from a nerdy farm boy to a powerful Jedi and he didn’t feel out of character by Return of the Jedi.

This is something I’m striving to accomplish with Trevor; he has a lot to learn and no one wants to see him become all powerful overnight, they want to join him on his journey as he learns about himself and how to use his abilities (which you’ll learn of in the series :D)
