The Shadow Guardians Book 1
by CB Samet
Genre: Urban Fantasy, Romantic Suspense
Ragnarok happened. Survivors converged on earth many millennia ago, breeding and blending with humans. Now, a secret battle of bloodlines is being waged in the shadows of the real world.
Raine Thoren became a Shadow Guardian to protect non-magical humans from threats they aren't even aware of. But the latest killer on the loose has stealth and power unlike any adversary she's faced. She won't be able to bring this one down alone.
FBI Special Agent Will Decker prefers to work by himself. When a mysterious woman saves his life, she's suddenly assigned to work with him in his quest to track an elusive killer. The more he learns about his new partner, Raine, and what demons lurk in shadows, the more fantasy becomes reality.
If they're going to stop the demon and unravel prophecies of the future, they'll need to work as a team and unlock each others' hearts and untapped powers.

GUEST POST
Describe your book in one sentence or fewer than 25 words.
Ragnarok happened. Survivors converged on earth many millennia ago, breeding and blending
with humans. Now, a secret battle of bloodlines is being waged in the shadows of the real
world.
Why should we read your book?
Readers will get an engaging mix of urban fantasy, suspense, action, adventure, humor, and
romance. The series makes for a fun read and enchanting escape from the struggles of every
day life.
What do you hope people will get out of your book?
First and foremost, I hope people get enjoyment—an escape to a fantasy world of magic and
mayhem woven with romance. Next, I hope that readers will relate to the characters’ struggles.
While we may not have magic and the world isn’t on the brink of destruction, we all face
intermittent overwhelming challenges. We may react to these challenges as the characters in
my urban fantasy series do—fear, insecurity, anger, and self-doubt—before we transform those
feelings into productive engery to face the task at hand.
On what are you currently working?
I am currently writing Book 2 in this series
The current sequence of this series is as follows:
Raven’s Flight, prequel novella
Raine Down, Book 1
Rosalyn’s Run, novella
Storm Surge, Book 2 (releases Spring 2023)
Anka’s Orb, novella
Sky Fall, Book 3
If you could have any superpower, what would it be?
My superpower of choice would be psychokinesis—the ability to move objects with my mind.
After all, it’s a rather Jedi trait to have (more than just moving rocks, though). As a writer, I
envision churning more books out if I could jog and write at the same time... while walking the
dog! Imagine how easy I could fix my next cup of inspirational coffee without disrupting the
writing process. As a mother of two boys, I could be reining hide-and-seek champion forever
(insert diabolic laugh here); I picture myself levitating to a closet ceiling, undetected. And, with
the ability to manipulate objects, I could finally beat my husband in tennis! Of course, I would
also use my powers toward achieving world peace.
How do you maintain your creativity?
I have a full-time day job so my weekly writing consists of squeezing in time in the evenings around the
boys’ dinner and activities. I find a change of scenery is motivation. I write copiously on vacations or
plane rides, especially when there is no distraction from emails or social media. Also, I brainstorm about
novels on walks or runs so I have to mix in these breaks from staring at a screen or notebook.
Do you have a favorite author who you look to for inspiration?
In my youth, I enjoyed Dan Brown, John Grisham, and Tom Clancy. I devoured Michael Crichton
books. More recently, I’ve picked up a lot of Nora Roberts books. She writes such an array of
contemporary romance, paranormal romance, thrillers, and romantic suspense that she’s
inspired me to explore multiple genres with my own writing. I also admire her determination and
work ethic. In addition, I enjoy Janet Evanovich, Lee Child, Jim Butcher, Sandra Brown, and
Robert Galbraith (aka J.K. Rowling).
Outside of writing, what do you consider to be fun?
Pina coladas and getting caught in the rain! But more practically... I like playing tennis, family
time, beach trips, jogging, and walking the dog (we have a 16 year-old Jack Russell Terrier).
And of course, I like to read. I’ve always got a paperback at home, an ebook on my phone, and
an audiobook for my commute.
