GUEST POST
What are your top favorite books/authors?
I love anything by Stephen King! Dean Koontz, Tami Hoag, and Terry Goodkind too!
What book do you think everyone should read?
The Davinci Code! Wow that book was not only awesome, it has so much information in there about the feminine divine - and how it should be respected and revered - that has been lacking in the world for far too long!
How long have you been writing?
I’ve been writing since I was able to pick up a pencil.
Do the characters all come to you at the same time or do some of them come to you as you write?
My main characters are already there in my mind, and as I write and add characters, they are already there, ready to jump in.
What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
I always do research for my books if needed. For Midnight on Mars, it was a lot of science-related research, for this book it was extra research on information I already knew which was astrology.
Do you see writing as a career? I would love to!
I work full time and wish I could call my writing a career instead and do that full time!
What do you think about the current publishing market?
I love how there are so many resources and ways to publish, but at the same time the market is flooded.
Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?
I haven’t been able to do much reading in a very long time, which I plan to change once I get into semi-retirement. I love reading anything in the sci-fi, fantasy, and thrillers genre.
Do you prefer to write in silence or with noise? Why?
Either quiet or with music in the background. I love anything by Enigma.
Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
I currently write one book at a time, but I could handle multiple books at the time if time allowed for it.
If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
Oh, there’s so many! I watched Game of Thrones and know it’s based on books, and wish I had written one of those because I have so much admiration for authors who world-build like that, and who can write so many complex storylines that come together like that! Just amazing.
Pen or type writer or computer?
I am old-school and for years have always written by pen. But for the last few years I’ve converted to the computer.
Tell us about a favorite character from a book.
One of my fav characters is Cassandra from Mourning Grey. She is a complex character, and the one most connected to me. She starts out in the story very naïve, and throughout the story she keeps getting stronger and more powerful not just with her magic, but mentally and emotionally too. She’s had to face the most dangerous situations and the most sinister people, but maintained her integrity despite everything.
Advice they would give new authors?
If you love writing, don’t stop. Keep at it, keep getting it out there, and try both independent and traditional publishing to see what works best for you (but avoid vanity presses/publishers). If you have to write to market in the beginning to get noticed, do that.
