Me, Myself, and I
My journey as an author started over a decade ago when I was in high school. I loved reading and creating pieces of art that were inspired by my imagination. One day my science teacher asked us what we wanted to do for a career. Honestly, I hadn’t thought about it much because all I did was spend my time reading, going to school, doing chores, and sleeping. When I confessed to my teacher I didn’t know he looked at me and said I was going to be an author, because I loved books so much.
This led me to opening up a blog where I did writing contests while I was in college. I wrote several stories this way under my name. But eventually life caught up to me like it does for everyone and I struggled to get by every day. This led to writing going on the back burner for a few years and I started trying to find something I could do that would make money for me and my future family.
I wasted so many semesters in college trying to find myself. In the end I ended up going back to journalism that I started with. But I couldn’t stand to write formally for a paper. Then I found graphic design, fell in love with it and started my business doing book covers, logos, and so much other fun creative things. This helped me with creating books for fellow authors and myself.
After almost a decade, several false starts, and twin babies, I started my writing journey for real. I started writing under K.M. Jenkins in September 2018. The first stories I wrote were part of a series called the Tales of Ferrês. There were ten in total and I bundled them together at the end to add a bonus story within. This was my first book and not my last. I have struggled over the years since I started writing but every step is a learning process. In the end it is about to enjoy the process and helping people find a world they want to live in instead of the real world.
Right now I have ten short stories (Tales of Ferrês), one bundle book (Tales of Ferrês), two novellas (Tales of Tarza Series), one young adult horror short story (Darkest Delights), and two novels that I pulled down for right now.
