A healthy-living yoga instructor and a gutsy bull rider? When opposites attract, sparks fly, but will love ignite?

Cowboy Lonnie Kasin is close to making the rodeo finals in bull riding. If he’s lucky enough to make the cut, he’s bent on doing everything he can to prove he belongs there. That is, until he meets a spunky yoga instructor who thinks he’s two bricks short of a load for riding bulls. How can he convince her that a bull rider is the man for her while proving to the world he belongs on that Finals roster?

No one would mistake Livvy Dennis for the responsible one in her family. And only she thinks moving to Wyoming to open up her own yoga studio is a good idea. Of course, she never expected a daredevil bull rider from Cheyenne to pull the mat out from under her. There are risk takers and then there is just plain crazy. She’ll have to figure out which one she is before it’s too late to save her heart.

Anne Carrole was raised on a farm with horses, dogs, cats, chickens, rabbits and whatever other animals she could convince her parents to shelter. She is married to her own sweet-talking hero and is the proud mother of a college teen. They share their home with a sleek black cat with way too much attitude. Anne writes contemporary romances in which alpha male heroes meet their match as well as gilded age and western historical romances where spunky heroines finally find a worthy hero. GUEST POST
Oh what a life!
TANGLED UP WITH A COWBOY features gutsy bull rider, Lonnie Kasin, as he chases every rodeo cowboy’s dream of making it into the National Finals Rodeo which begins the first week every December in Las Vegas. A rodeo cowboy’s life is filled with lots of action and adventure by the very nature of the events he competes in, but there is a lot more to being a rodeo cowboy than a spectator may realize when they watch them compete in the rodeo arena.
For one thing, there is the extensive, and often expensive, travel involved getting from one rodeo to the next. Rodeo cowboys pursuing this for their livelihood often compete in a hundred plus rodeos per year in a season that spans from the beginning of October to the end of September with most rodeos occurring between January and September and clustered in the summer months. It often involves crisscrossing states from Texas to Montana and California to Kansas, down to Florida and even a few events in the North East. That’s a lot of driving time, sometimes in the middle of the night, to get to the next rodeo.
While prize money has improved in the sport of rodeo, a rodeo cowboy still must pay a sizeable entry fee for each rodeo which goes into the pot of money that can be won at a given rodeo. Combine that expenditure with travel expenses, the cost of horses used in timed-events, and the expenses for specialized equipment and the average rodeo cowboy is lucky if he breaks even in a season.
Then there are the injuries. Rodeo cowboys, who compete in the stock events of bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, and bull riding, are most susceptible to serious injuries usually from being bucked off the back of athletic horses and bulls bred to buck and buck hard. Rodeo cowboys don’t get paid if they get hurt and there is no medical insurance supplied by a team contract. That is why I am donating a portion of the profits from TANGLED UP WITH A COWBOY to the Justin Cowboy Crisis Fund. JCCF provides need-based financial assistance to athletes injured through their participation in professional rodeo.
There is also the amount of time away from home and loved ones. Once the season starts, a cowboy is on the road pretty much every week and the distance between rodeos may not allow for a stop at home. Trevor Brazile, a twenty-four time gold-buckle world champion, recently cut back competing at rodeos which resulted in his losing out on what was almost a guaranteed run at the National Finals Rodeo this year and the probable $100,000 plus winnings he’d achieve for that ten-day event. He did so in order to spend more time with his family after over twenty years on the road. Livvy, the heroine in TANGLED UP WITH A COWBOY, isn’t sure she can wait that long for her cowboy to settle down.
Still, rodeo isn’t lacking cowboys who want to compete for a shot at prize money and the chance to win that gold buckle signifying a world champion and the hero in TANGLED UP WITH A COWBOY is no exception. Unfortunately, he’s fallen in love with a woman who wants nothing to do with the rodeo life-style. What’s a cowboy to do?
