GUEST POST

It really happened

Those of you just discovering me as an author don’t know that my brand for all my books is

“Real Crimes written into Great Love Stories.”

As a retired newspaper reporter, I covered all sorts of offenses, from petty burglaries to murders.

All my standalone suspense novels are loosely based on actual crimes I reported.

There’s the story about the arsonist loose in the city, and the night I rode shotgun with the fire

captain down the back alleys of the town scared out of my wits that we’d actually come upon

him starting a fire. He always set them after midnight. (Love’s Secret Fire).

And the story about a young woman targeted by thieves who takes matters into her own hands

is somewhat autobiographical, since I was the victim in that case (Thief of the Heart). Yeah, “we”

caught the guy.

Shady Justice is based on a true story as well. A revenge murder, if you will, when an unhappy

woman asked for a divorce and threatened to ruin her then-husband. The murder shocked the

town because the parties involved – there were more than one – were rather well known. I had

reported on one of them, actively involved in county politics and sitting on council in his own

community.

Suddenly, I was recounting his arrest and my photographer taking his picture with his hands

cuffed behind his back.

Names have been changed, of course. Let the dead rest in peace, I say. And why give the

criminals any more headlines?

Every book has a little romance woven in as well because, what’s life like without a little bit of

love? Or on my pages, some hot sex. I’m not revealing if those chapters are true or fiction.

You’ll have to read my books, get to know me, and decide for yourself.
