M. K. Scott is the husband and wife writing team behind The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries. Morgan K
Wyatt is the general wordsmith, while her husband, Scott, is the grammar hammer and physics
specialist. He uses his engineering skills to explain how fast a body falls when pushed over a cliff and
various other felonious activities. The Internet and experts in the field provide forensic information, while
the recipes and B and B details require a more hands on approach. Morgan's daughter, who manages a
hotel, provides guest horror stories to fuel the plot lines. The couple's dog, Chance, is the inspiration
behind Jasper, Donna's dog. Murder Mansion is the first book in The Painted Lady Inn Mysteries.
Overall, it is a fun series to create and read.

Inspiration Behind the Way
Over the Hill Series
By
M K
Scott
People
often ask why write about seniors in a nursing home solving cold
cases. There are a couple of reasons. First is that seniors tend to
get grouped together as old folks who do little more than gossip,
play bingo, and watch reruns of Matlock. This is so untrue.
On
one vacation excursion I was paired up with an eighty-five-year-old
man who was a proficient snorkeler and much better than I was. I also
met several other senior tourists who were very adventurous and full
of life. My goal was to show that seniors might not be as fast as
their younger counterparts, but their wits were still sharp. This is
even more important since I have reached the senior status, too.
The second part of my inspiration is that I worked at a convalescent
home for ten years. While there I met several people who inspired my
characters, especially Lola and Gus. We also had residents sneaking
out of the home and slipping back in, too. Most just wanted a walk
around the nearby neighborhood.
My
daily conversations with the residents planted a seed that took a
couple decades to grow into the Way Over the Hill Series.
