GUEST POST

What inspired you to write this book?

My new book, Handsome, was actually inspired by someone working on my house. The gentleman made a comment about a star I had hanging and said that a star in the window means you’re a swinger. So, I joked back about people who would actually display things to invite strangers into their homes. This got me thinking what a way to attract a killer, and Handsome was born.

What can we expect from you in the future?

Too much to list, stay tuned for a web series, a vastly unique choice of books, possibly a movie, and even I don’t know what else.

Who designed your book covers?

This various on my current financial status. I have books created by Dark Wish Designs, she’s awesome. Real art hand drawn from @disturbingdrawings, Mar Garcia is the best, and a few done by me when I’m too poor to pay.

If you could spend time with a character from your book whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

I would spend the day with Detective Marcy Gagon, she’s smart, full of energy and introspective. I’d love for her to take me on a ride along while she’s hunting down a criminal and watch her in action.

Are your characters based off real people or did they all come entirely from your imagination?

The characters in Handsome are from my imagination. I do try and think about people I know and some of their quirks, or habits and incorporate these into some of the characters to bring them life. However, in my book the Cimmerians, my dearest friend Jackie is 100% a full-fledged character and it’s amazing how anyone who knows it, reads it as her. That is the best compliment a writer can get, that the characters are true to life.

Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.

This book is fast-paced and exciting. There isn’t a dull moment, and it’ll take you on a visual journey through the life of a killer, through the streets of Toronto and behind the scenes with a detective. What’s not to love about all that?

Is there a writer which brain you would love to pick for advice? Who would that be and why?

Actually, I have picked the brain of the incomparable, David Morrell, (if you don’t know who he is do yourself a favor and google him). He’s a kind, easy to talk to person and if you friend him on social media, he will engage with you. The reason I reached out is sort of funny. It was about my first book and one passage I had was about fear sending a man’s testicals into his body, and my editor hated this! He said it was gross and no one wants to read that. So, I asked Mr. Morrell his personal thoughts.

Needless to say, the line stayed.
