What is something unique/quirky about you?
I have always had more than one job. I can’t slow down and as soon as I try to, I end up with something else to do.
What are some of your pet peeves?
I hate plastic pencils. Not like the mechanical ones. Like the ones pretending to be wooden pencils, but are actually plastic and bendy frauds in disguise!
Where were you born/grew up at?
I was born in Louisville and have lived in Kentucky my whole life!
How to find time to write as a parent?
I am a fantastic multi-tasker and often grab a few extra minutes when I find them and write on my phone!
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
In the fifth grade, my first “book” was about an alien named Orangepeachrumple. It’s the first and one of the only “paranormal” books I’ve ever written and/or will write!
Do you have a favorite movie?
A Few Good Men
Which of your novels can you imagine made into a movie?
My Griffin Gas Company Series could be made into a Hallmark series!
As a writer, what would you choose as your mascot/avatar/spirit animal?
My spirit animal is an otter. I am a mama, and a wife and I mother and friend others easily.
What inspired you to write this book?
Bennett’s Got Beats started out as a short holiday story about “Twelve Drummers Drumming.” I later decided I wanted to give each drummer their own story and asked several of my favorite author pals to join in and help me make it into a series.
What can we expect from you in the future?
A new dark romance that comes out in March as apart of the Possessed by Passion boxset. I introduce my character, the butcher, and have a sequel already in the works!
Do you have any “side stories” about the characters?
My series books (Griffin Gas Company and Mint Condition) have so many side characters and stories that go along with them. The fun of reading these is seeing familiar faces.
Tell us about your main characters- what makes them tick?
Bennett has a old soul. After the “Tweleve Drummers Drumming” competition, he has some life lessons and really grows up over the course of the book.
Convince us why you feel your book is a must read.
Bennett’s Got Beats is a story about love lost and how the characters deal with this. It’s got some emotion and teared me up as I wrote it. I hope that emotion is passed on to readers as well.
Have you written any other books that are not published?
I have a lot of things “in the wings” that are waiting for their time…
If your book had a candle, what scent would it be?
Musky, cedarwood and bourbon.
Is there an writer which brain you would love to pick for advice? Who would that be and why?
I’d love to go back to the days of Jane Austen and have a good long afternoon tea with her.
How long have you been writing?
I officially published three years ago but have been scribbling since high school.
What kind of research do you do before you begin writing a book?
In my first book, She’s a Tiger Lily, I extensively researched what to do for a jellyfish sting because I wanted to get that right in the book. And now, if I am in the presence of anyone who has a jellyfish sting, I know exactly what to do!
Do you read yourself and if so what is your favorite genre?
I mostly read contemporary romance.
Do you write one book at a time or do you have several going at a time?
I have several going at a time, so if I get stuck, I can move on to another manuscript and break through the block.
If you could have been the author of any book ever written, which book would you choose?
Pride and Prejudice or Little Women

Advice they would give new authors?
There’s a lot more to it than writing the book. Do your research and be ready to commit.
If you could tell your younger writing self anything, what would it be?
Start publishing sooner. Don’t be scared. Just do it. Find your tribe in your 20s and run with it.
Do you believe in writer’s block?
Yes, but I’m pretty successful if I switch subjects for a bit, but keep writing, that I can usually go back and push through.
