GUEST POST
Reading Between The Lines
"Write what you know" is one of those maxims writers are taught almost from the age when they first put pen to paper - or, these days, fingers to keyboard. It's sound advice, of a kind that can lead readers to wonder where, if at all, the writer's imagination and biography intersect.
But the parts a writer "knows" aren't necessarily the juicy parts. It may be the context and circumstances from which the writer draws on experience, and the intimate parts that are based on fantasy.
Sometimes a reader can only speculate. As in life, guessing may be the allure.
